Balanced tone, heavy sound. It will bring the house down.
"At the time of writing this review, this amp had a one-star rating, which I simply couldn't ignore, because this is the best amplifier I've ever purchased. It has a beautifully clear punch that is classic of British-sounding amps. The tone is perfectly balanced and it makes the sound so pleasant to listen to, especially since these new issues have loads more bass-end than the older DSL range. It plays heavy metal just as well as it does cleaner crunchy-rock tones. The one thing I'd suggest on the high-gain channel is to turn stuff up (minus the treble, since this is a bright amp). The valves of this amp sound like they need to be pushed harder, but once you crank the volume a bit and turn up the presence-resonance controls, the sound becomes impeccable. Marshall has won me over as a valve-amp lover."
Amazing spectrum of sound and great control over it.
"This is one of the best amp in this price range. High ends are aggressive and the low ends are clearer. The clean channel is surprisingly very good. The ultra gain channel is perfect for classic rock. The new CR series has better spectrum of sound compared to the older series.
I would have preferred less aggressive high end that's why giving it 4 stars. It's reverb is not strong compared to VOX amps.
If you can upgrade the speakers, this amp can sound very very good."
Nice amp sounds great
"Single coils and humbuckers both sound good with this amp. I like both channels, classic gain and ultra gain. There are some good videos on youtube that demo the sound for you. I found them especially useful. I haven't had the chance to turn it up loud yet because I play it in my bedroom at lower volumes or with headphones. It performs very well at low volume. I had been worried about that. I will keep this one."
