Marshall Amps Guitar Amplifier Head (M-DSL1HR-U)

Top Reviews from the United States
    It’s a Marshall !
"Looks like a Marshall and sounds Marshall
Like most reviewers noted, it’s loud! I use the lower power and can get the Crunch I want. The clean channel is awesome as well Fortunately my music room is above my garage so loud Is not an issue but it’s not for bedroom player
I was about to purchase a SS amp but glad I didn’t. I missed a good deal on Reverb so I waited for Amazon to offer deal on a bundle. However, I was able to buy separately and save $200"
    Excellent amplifier
    "Works great"
It's REALLY bright but turn the treble all the way down and it rocks
"This head is best used as an effect pedal, running in the input and out the effects loop into a more powerful (>10W tube) power section on another amp. The 12AU7 preamp tube being used as a push-pull power tube in this case is purely for bedroom jamming at night. But you want the full sound so you'll need something more powerful, in which case the DSL20HR or an amp you already have will help. On this head, if you don't have anything plugged into the speaker out, the output transformer won't melt down...it has dummy load in that case. So just power off, unplug the speaker, and you can use this to rock out silently or into another amp.

The amp is correctly criticized for being super-bright, but the youtube-famous fail to realize there's a knob marked "treble" that you can dial all the way down. These are vintage-style interactive EQs, and dialing the treble all the way down actually increases the bass. Seems I'm the very first to realize this given the ridiculous reviews. Also the "Tone shift" button is NOT a metal midrange scoop, it's also a treble reduction. The "Classic Gain" clean channel is so incredibly bright it needs BOTH the treble all the way down and the Tone Shift on to sound good...and that way it does indeed sound great. On the Ultra Gain overdrive channel, you can adjust to taste, but I like to start in the same place, and the EQs are shared so it works. I add a touch of bass and the thing really does sound rich and Marshall roaring. And don't forget there *is* a tone knob on your guitar too!

Since I didn't have an EL34 power section handy, I decided to return this and upgrade to the DSL20HR. I'm using a simple speaker attenuator to keep levels comfortable, but still enjoy the headroom and power tube crunch. To save cost and weight I would've kept this though, it's a perfectly good amp, if you give it more than the 15 minutes a typical youtuber does to prepare a review. I feel it's much better than the more solid state Blackstar circuit unless you're into darker metal."
