JIM DUNLOP ROCK-MA Rockman Metal Ace

    Rock Man, the next Generation.
"It's a great unit, but is not totally like the original. Sounds great and is awesome for practice and just plucking around, but if you remember the original from the 80's you cold run it into your amp and it would almost work like a pre amp function with a cool effect to it. This unit although very nice, lacks the cool pre amp sound delivery tgat the original had. However this is just a device intended to play through and practice with and not piss off your neighbors. It works best with a pair of Beats Headphones, because the pair that come with it are pretty much the same type you get loaned to you by your local Airlines. Also get the power adapter because about an hour later the 9v battery tends to loose it's punch and the sound quality tends to drop off. So, in reviewing this the only drawbacks are the Headphones and the need for a power adapter."
I think I bought the wrong unit.
"I was hoping for all the effects that I heard on the Rockman years ago. But the delay effect wasn't on this unit. Probably on a different model. It works OK, just not what I wanted. 8("
DONT BUT THE ROCKMAN METAL ACE - NOISY, NOISY, NOISY
"I am a lover of the original Rockman. I remember back in the day Rockman x100 was the best on the market. Well ever since Sholtz sold the company, the Rockman is no longer the elite guitar processor that it used to be. I had read through a plethora of bad reviews in many places, but figured it was only 99.00 and "What did I expect"? The original to buy now days is 250.00 and 65.00 for power supply. So 99.00 was ok to spend, even though I wouldn't get the same quality as the original Rockman. The bad reviews said it was very noisy and I understand that this unit and the tones generated have always been noisy to a degree. It was to be expected back in the day. So thinking that the reviewers, just didnt understand the "noise of yesterday", I purchased anyway. The reason I purchased this is that I wanted a practice unit, where I could take my music source, plug it into the Rockman and play my guitar to the music in a quiet environment not to wake my wife with the rock and roll sounds I produce. Boy was I surprised!! The noise was even worse than I expected. The dirty channel (Noise) overwhelmed the music source that was input into the AUX input. Lowering the overall sound of the music and all you could hear was NOISE. This unit is not even good enough for practice. Very noisy! I am sure if you went from the output into a mixer, reverb unit, Noise gate, and delay unit, you could massage the sound, but on its own as a practice unit it does not in any way replicate the sound of the original. Lets forget the original for now, and imagine I just bought it for practice and knew nothing about the original, Its still not worth the money, as the signal to noise ratio is off the chain. Please, if you read this, be warned!"
