Want to make your neighbors mad?
"Years ago I bought the Mustang amp and was disappointed with all the simulated tones as all I wanted was a pure sound. Plus it was a single 12" speaker but it could still make your ears ring. In its defense, there are a few simulated tones that were pleasing to play but most of them sounded distorted.
So, the Mrs. and I got in a fight so I decided to treat myself to a new amp. After reading other reviews from those much more proficient than I, I took the plunge. WOW, what an amp. The first channel is "clean" but can still be modulated. The two 12" speakers do not disappoint and I'm confident you could fill up most concert venues (albeit moderate size) with no problem.
Or you can select the second channel and go crazy with settings I have only begun to explore. The only reason for the 4-star rating on versatility (and I think this is a small point) is that you can only plug in one guitar so you can't "share" with another player.
It's a little hefty to carry around with just the handle as I think it's just north of 40 lb. I'm a little long in the tooth so I had my son bring it upstairs. Plus it's a bit bulky so it really offsets your center of gravity which adds a degree of difficulty in lifting and transporting it.
Sorry, I cannot discuss the nuances of different settings so I'll defer to those professionals who have waxed poetic about it's capabilities. I content myself with how it projects power and clarity at low levels and makes my mid-level playing sound good. I'm confident if you want to crank it up it will take you as loud as you want to go and depending on the time of day, you may get a visit from local law enforcement!
You don't need to hear from me that you can go crazy price-wise with guitar amps but at this price point, I think you'd be hard pressed to justify why you need to spend that much more when this one can definitely carry the load. FWIW, I haven't had the master volume above 3 so there's a lot of "Star Trek" space left! Enjoy."
A very versatile practice and gig amp!
"I am really impressed with this amp. Although it is "Not a tube amp" its performance is surprisingly good and it does the job well. Cost is affordable compared to other Fender amps. Having gigged on several different amps in the late 70's and early 80's which did not have the features this amp offers, I can easily dial in the effects I'm seeking with both LP and SG guitars. Sure, it's not a stack but it certainly can provide the desired effects and volume. I wish I had this amp back then."
THIS AMP IS A TONAL MONSTER
"For the price, I truly wasn't expecting too much at all. Maybe like a good beginner practice amp. But WOW was I blown away!!!
Up until today, I ONLY played through high-end tube amps. And I have been playing for more than 40 years, both professionally and for personal enjoyment.

I unpacked the amp. And was surprised at how light it was for its size. I plugged her up and after an hour of playing clean chord songs, I hit the foot switch channel selector and got it nasty. I ripped into some Vai, Satriani, and Malmsteem. Then switched to my Gib Les Paul and tore into some Billy Gibbons and took it from the bottom to the TOP. Made another guitar switch to a 60's LP and broke into some Bonamassa and a few other blues greats, before switching it over to the Tele and a little Country.

This amp handled every bit like a "CHAMP"! (Pun intended) 5 different guitars.....from big band to shredding....it handled it all. Different volumes....modelings...effects sounded like they were coming from a 3k rig. UNBELIEVABLE. And the head room? Forget about it. These two 12's could be pushed much harder with no problem.

To tell you exactly how much I like it, I am retiring my old amps and using this Champion at every gig I play. And the nice thing, I van up in a head set and practice with the same amp I will gig with and never bother a soul.

Do yourself a favor, especially all you close minded guitarists that believe a '59 and a tube amp is the only way to go, spend the $400 and get the surprise of your life. I did! And no more $175+ every 3-6 months on new tubes.

Bottom line.....this jewel is for ANYONE & EVERYONE. Two thumbs up!!"
